2 Timothy 2:13
If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. (N.K.J.V.)
Last night I went Christmas shopping. On my way home I began pondering the awesome fact that God is unchanging. To think about anything unchanging is almost unfathomable. We live in a society where change is constant. Either literally or figuratively, people, places, and ideas are always under construction. Oftentimes, change is provoked by the desire for perfection, but because God is already perfect in every way, change is an impossibility.
In the above scripture, the word “remains” strikes me. Anything that remains cannot be destroyed. It is a very strong word. It doesn’t matter where I am in the journey of my life, God remains faithful. He is faithful to every word written in the Bible. It’s a book full of promises and hope. I cling to the fact He is unchanging; because of this, I am confident that I am safe and secure. I am probably communicating to myself today more than to anyone else. But for me, the word “remains” in 2 Timothy 2:13, is an anchor. No matter what, He REMAINS faithful. No matter where, He REMAINS faithful. No matter how, He REMAINS faithful. It is comforting to have a scriptural basis that it truly doesn’t matter how I feel, He still remains. I might feel faithless, but He remains faithful. I’m standing on that promise…
Great scripture!
