The chocolate in my pantry is calling my name. I can almost hear it audibly. It is maddening, so I guess I should probably just give in and eat it. What? I have to shut it up somehow. Chocolate actually has nothing to do with this post. I’m just obsessed. With. Chocolate.  Hey, if I can’t talk to you…

The weather is gloomy in Pittsburgh today. I’m SO ready for spring, and SO over winter. I do love the seasons. Therefore, old man winter should not take offense to my mood. I will be more than happy to once again give him a gracious hello just in time for next Christmas. But for now I must bid him farewell. He is bringing me down!

The lack of sunshine is definitely making me unproductive today. Yep, it is only the weather to blame that I’m accomplishing nothing.

When I was a little girl I was on a softball team. I, of course, was not paying attention when the ball was hit in my direction. (I’m sure I was thinking about the latest Jordache purse I needed my parents to purchase for me.) By the time I realized the ball was heading straight at me it was too late. As a result, I ended up with a black eye and a lecture from the coach saying something along the lines of blah, blah, blah. (Yeah, his words were life-changing.) When my dad asked me what happened I told him, “The ball missed the glove.” He responded, “Oh, so you didn’t miss the ball? The ball missed the glove…”  I am not an athlete. However, I have been known to purchase clothing to make it look like I’m athletic. Who can pass up a super cute tennis skirt? Not this girl.

Anyway, it is spring and even though it doesn’t feel very spring-like outside, it will soon. This season makes us feel the need to open up our windows and welcome fresh air to christen our homes. Spring represents new beginnings. The other day as I was trying to rid some of winter’s unwelcome germs from my home, I began to think about how everyday should be spring for our souls.

We should wake up each day with a repentant heart asking God for a fresh start. A new day grants opportunity to live fulfilling the purpose Christ has for us. I urge you to let go of the winter-like mentality responsible for causing your spirit gloom and despair. Invite in fresh breezes of hope and allow today to be a new beginning.

Poor winter. I was pretty rough on him today.

Happy Saturday; Happy Spring!

How is the weather in your neck of the woods?
