Many wonderful doors have opened in my life, but I have to be honest and tell you that most of them haven’t opened without me pounding, punching, or even kicking them down.
When you punch, kick, and struggle long enough, you become bruised and worn. Rest is vital. Rest in Him, that is.
I feel as if I am at a place in my life where God has positioned several doors in front of me. One way or another all of them will unlock. I’m just not quite sure how much energy it will take to open them. However, I know one thing for sure…
“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”
-Corrie Ten Boom
Yes and Amen!
Last week, I shared my One Word for the year. Just in case you missed it, my One Word is brave. Something I didn’t share is the scriptures to go along with the acronym I’ve created. My goal is to memorize them this year. I love memorizing scripture. It is my opinion that memorizing the word will cause us to grow faster in Christ than anything else. It’s been true for my life, and if you give it a chance, you might find the same will be true for you. Actually, Ann Voskamp has just released a brand new scripture memory project for the year. You should check it out!
Bold – Ephesians 3: 8-13 (emphasis on verse 12)
Ready – 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (emphasis on verse 2)
Available – Mathew 2:11 (note: giving our lives to Jesus is a gift to Him. It’s all we can offer. It makes us available to be used however He chooses.)
Vying for – 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Everything God wants to do in my heart and life – 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-19 (emphasis on verse 18.)
So, while I’m on the subject of waiting on doorsteps, bravery, and new things, I want to give you a retreat update. I know some of you have been wondering.
Within the next 3 weeks I will disclose all the details and then tickets will go on sale. For now, I’m giving you a little teaser with a save the date!
We have a wonderful venue booked in beautiful Ligonier, Pennsylvania. I’m finalizing details with the speakers, which God has completely orchestrated. And, today, I want to give you the dates so you can mark them on your calendar!
Drum roll please…
Friday, September 5th through Sunday, September 7th 2014.
The retreat is entitled, The Mercy Retreat, based on my devotional, Mercy Waits.
If you want to enjoy a weekend get-a-way where you can be refreshed, experience AMAZING food prepared for you by a fantastic culinary staff, all while connecting with other women… then this retreat is for you!
I’ve started an email list for those who don’t want to miss out on learning all the details for the retreat. If you want your name on this list to receive more information as it formalizes, please email me at jen@agirlonthedoorstep.com. Being a part of this list does not obligate you to attend; it also will not subscribe you to the blog. It is simply a list to ensure you receive information. It also gives me and the retreat team an idea of how many women are considering this event.
I cannot wait to hear from you!
Love,
Jen
I love how you have taken your word and added key scripture to each letter. I will need to do this. 🙂
Your retreat sounds so lovely and this is a perfect year for me to venture out and finally attend a few but I will be traveling for work on those dates. It’s time to “Go Give” some coffee! :)))
Many blessings,
Beth
Thank you, Beth. And thank you for your support of #GoGive!
I love the idea of making a Scripture acronym out of our one word for 2014! Blessings as you continue to work out the details of the retreat!
Thanks so much, Joanne!
So exciting! I’m waiting to hear about a possible missions trip in September. I am hoping to also go on a retreat or two this year.
That is wonderful, Barbie!
