Today, I’m at a local coffee shop writing. I should clarify: I’m supposed to be writing, but I’m distracted. My attention continues to be tangled up in the conversations of others. Most have been quite depressing. I find myself pretending to be reading or typing on my computer when all I’m really doing is praying for people.
Some days I wake up with a plan. Today was one of those days. I woke up, did some cleaning, made the twin’s breakfast and then hurried out the door to get us all to the dentist for our checkups and cleanings. After that, I dropped Sam and Grace off at my mother’s house for the day. I am determined to finish the new book I’m working on. I came here to write! But in actuality, I didn’t come here to write, I came here to pray.
Our best laid plans are often interrupted by a faithful God who wants us to intercede for another soul through prayer. Obviously, since I’m not here to write today, this is going to be a short post. However, I do want to communicate to you that wherever you are, you can make a difference in another life. You can pray for them.
I decided to quit fighting the distractions and take them as a cue from the Father. My purpose today is different than I intended, but anytime I can be used by God to do something He needs me to do, it’s a productive day.
So, I’m praying for those all around me. And as I write this, I’m praying for you too!
May you see the beauty of God today as you wrestle with whatever is thrown your way. May you recognize hope in every situation. May you give thanks for every blessing you have. And may every tear turn to joy. I pray that you will take a moment to pray for another. Maybe it’s the lady at the table next to you. Hey, maybe it’s me… (Hint, hint)
With folded hands and an open heart, we can each make a difference in another life.
God bless you today, friends!
Love,
Jennifer
Today, I’m linking up with Holley Gerth for encouragement through Coffee for Your Heart.
Thank you for allowing God to use you right where you are. We are called to pray continually, and sometimes that doesn’t always come as we would have planned. Blessings!
So true, Barbie! Blessings to you, friend!
Is God offended when I pray for my dog?
No, Margie. I believe God cares about the things we care about, including animals:).
Jennifer, I have recently come across this truth that the “distractions” from our “plans” are often God wanting to use us and bless us. Thank you for confirming it for me. I am so glad we are neighbors in Holley’s link up today. I can’t wait to explore your site and get to know you. Peace be with you!
Thank you for reading, Aly!
Do you believe kn the Sovereignty of God? That he is Sovereign of his entire created universe? Because if you do, you have to understand that the distractions actually WERE his plan for you. In that day and at that time. We often forget the truth of Proverbs 16:9, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. ” So nothing we do is outside his plan -it may be outside OURS, but never his. What comfort this brings to a believer!
Yes, Pamela. I absolutely believe that, which was the whole idea behind my post. Sometimes, we set out with our own plans, but God designs our days:). Have a great day!
That sounds like the best possible distraction! Blessings to you and those you’re praying for.
Thank you, Stephanie!
Jennifer-What a beautiful way to view the distractions. I hope the next time I’m feeling less then focused I will take notice long enough to ask the Holy Spirit if He’s really just prompting me to pray. Thanks for sharing and keep encouraging!
