Psalm 56:3-4

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? (N.K.J.V.)

Have you ever had a situation where it seemed as if flesh could destroy you? When hurt from the sins of gossip, slander, or some other vile poison from the mouth of someone else, had penetrated your heart so deeply you wondered if you could recover? I have.

Years ago, I was grieved over a sensitive situation. A wonderful, godly woman approached trampled-flowerme at Bible study and said, “I can tell that your spirit is crushed.  It reminds me of a beautiful flower that has fallen from the vine and has been stepped on. God wants to lift your spirit; it’s going to be okay.”

Because I am a visual learner, I have kept the image of the trampled flower in the surface of my thoughts. Whenever I find myself in a situation where my spirit seems crushed, I picture the flower.  I see the flower rising back up from the crumpled state it was in, and I remember that God Purple_Flower_Violaexpects me to trust Him throughout the heartache. He helps me rise above it.

I’m not sure why God brought the illustration of that flower to my mind today.  Maybe you need to hear the same words I needed to hear all those years ago, “God wants to lift your spirit; it’s going to be okay.” Though there are days we might feel trampled, it does not mean we are.

Romans 8:31

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (N.K.J.V.)

Romans 8:37

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (N.K.J.V.)

The point I’m trying to make is that we must learn to find our courage in Christ. He has already made the sacrifice for our souls. We need to trust Him. We need to remember that He is in control. When you support your heart with His will, His plan is unstoppable. There is nothing He cannot do in your life.

Trust in Him, remember you are more than a conqueror, and you are loved.

Take a second to picture the crushed flower puffing back up. You are beautiful, because you belong to him.
