I am someone who usually begins any new venture with baby steps.  When I started trying the vegan diet, (I’m a little off the wagon right now) I said I was going to follow it for 7 days before deciding if I would continue.  After losing a fair amount of weight in the first week I knew it would work for me.  When I began writing the blog, I said I was only going to write until my 40th birthday before making a decision if blogging was right for me.  It is!  I usually set small goals; they prove to be the best way for me to learn to commit.

Commitment can be a process for me.  I don’t have a difficult time committing to people or relationships.   However, activities which could involve failure, take a huge chunk of my precious time, or demand me to give up butter mandate baby steps.Toddling Baby

To make anything successful, time is a required investment.  I thoroughly think through every possible scenario before making decisions.  If I didn’t, this blog would be two years old already.  I check and re-check.  I make sure it’s God’s voice I’m hearing and not my own.  I almost need to see a burning bush to carry through with ideas I feel He gives me.  It’s just who I am.Burning Bush

The next step in my plan is commitment.  I’m in this for the long haul.  Why?  The reason why is because God has called me to this, and because I LOVE it!  I learned a long time ago that the real definition of love is commitment.  You won’t see it written like that in the dictionary, but it’s true.  Think about it this way… when you marry someone, as much as you love them, there are moments in which you will not always feel the warm fuzzy feelings you once did.  Just ask my husband how warm and fuzzy I feel when he chews loud or gulps his drink.  Those are shallow examples but life can, and will, get brutal.  It’s easy to turn on each other.  True commitment separates the Men from the boys and the Women from the girls. (I’m obviously not speaking of abuse situations where commitment can be detrimental to ones physical and emotional health.)Love Commitment

As I’m praying for a step-by-step plan to achieve my goals, I’m also praying for all of you who are reading.  If you have a dream, then commit to it.  It’s time to take action.  Time is fleeting and precious.  If God is calling you to do something, then step out and do it! If it is truly God’s will for your life then you can, I know you can!  Why not commit?
