Valentine’s Day is tomorrow! This means I have an excuse to eat chocolate. I love any excuse to eat chocolate, especially dark chocolate raspberry truffles from Godiva. (I know you might not care about my chocolate preference, but my husband might be reading this, and well, a girl has to try. Right?) Anyway, tonight I was out shopping for some valentine gifts when I found myself in the middle of an entire section stocked with red cards.  Between all of those cards, there must have been a million different ways to say, “I love you.” Everywhere I looked I saw candy, teddy bears, and pink balloons.  People go all out to tell their sweethearts they love them. (Some 40 year old women like to be told they are loved through the gift of dark chocolate raspberry truffles from Godiva. Hint, Hint.)  However, this Valentine’s Day, there will be many hurting people in the world.

I have a friend who did something quite beautiful. She bought a card and gift for a man who recently lost his wife to cancer.  She wanted to do something for someone who is hurting.  I cannot think of a better way to show the love of God this Valentine’s Day than to minister love to someone who is grieving.  So, I now feel inspired to find a way to bless someone who needs it, and I want to make a charge for all of you reading to do the same.

This Valentine’s Day, please consider blessing someone who really needs it. It does not have to be expensive; it just has to be a form of generosity.  If it makes you uncomfortable to give openly, you can always be an anonymous giver. If everyone thought like my sweet friend, the world would be a much better place.  (I know my world will be a much better place if a certain gentleman decides to purchase some dark chocolate raspberry truffles from Godiva.)

Consider showing love to someone who needs it.
