It has been too long since I’ve had a giveaway. And with Mother’s Day right around the corner, I thought it the perfect time to bless you with the wonderful book, Desperate. It is a book full of beautiful truths. Two lovely authors sought and found Jesus within each facet of motherhood. If I could afford to hand out a copy to every mom at church on Mother’s Day, I would. Seriously, it is that good! This book is like taking a deep breath of hope and grace.
A small glimpse of my story:
My husband Paul and I married young and had our first child without any complications. Our son is now age 20. (I feel old!) After He was born, adding to our family ended up being nothing short of a nightmare. I struggled with secondary infertility which consisted of 15 years of heartache including 5 miscarriages and a stillborn daughter. But don’t tell me God doesn’t do miracles. He does! When you have nothing left to hold, cling to hope! Four and a half years ago, our lives changed forever with the birth of twins!
I’m a desperate mother:
Having those miracle babies caused many new changes. For starters, I was now age 35. When I gave birth to my first child, I was age 19. I had a ton of energy! And this time around… not so much. Sometimes, I find myself feeling guilty over crying out to God for a much needed break. After all, I waited 15 long years for these precious ones, and now I’m praying for Calgon to take me far, far away. (Preferably somewhere tropical. Okay, forget tropical. I will be happy for 5 minutes alone in the bathroom!) Even after all those years of praying for new life, I occasionally find myself overwhelmed and desperate.
Book giveaway:
Last week, I read a wonderful book by Sarah Mae and Sally Clarkson entitled, Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe. (Hey, that’s me! that’s me!) I love this book, and I know you will also. I enjoyed it so much that I have decided to give away two copies on my blog! There is one for you and one to give to a desperate friend. If you are not a mom yet, you can save this book for future reference. (Trust me. You WILL need it!) If you are a mom of grown children, maybe you mentor someone who is desperate and you can pass it along to them. If you already read it, then give both books away. You will be a double blessing!

Hi Joanne. Desperate is a wonderful book. You will love it. I will be praying for your situation. I’m so thankful we serve a loving God who meets us where we are and loves us through desperate times.
I have just the friend! Love giving books away:) I’ve subscribed!
Thank you so much, Lee! I hope you enjoy the blog:).
🙂 Would love this. How about my 18 month old (and third child) is just now considering sleeping through the night?? My days are a bit desperate indeed! (And I’ll leave my current read as a book recommendation, though I’m only on chapter 3. It’s awesome. The Fruitful Wife. Convicting while encouraging. Not that you asked…but it’s that good. Now I’m off to explore your blog.)
Hi Annette! Thank you so much for reading the blog and commenting! I have four year old twins, and I SO know what sleep deprivation feels like!
I am new to your blog. New to this book (never heard of it). I have been hoping to grow in truth and grace in a very real way. In fact, my blog is all about becoming a student and lover of grace! Our lives cry out for that!
Thank you for reading, Jennifer! I’m so glad you came over!
I am definitely sometimes this mom, but I want to win this for my sister in law, who is currently facing the trial of her life. Her second daughter is 2.5 weeks old and was born with severe brain damage due to a lack of oxygen to the brain during birth and possibly before. She’s been given no hope to live, but every day the Lord gives us with her we’re thankful for. My SIL’s faith and our God are nothing short of amazing as He cares for them in this time and gives them what they need. Thank you for hosting this giveaway. I came to your blog via your post “How to find Grace in the Wilderness.”
Hi Julie. Thank you so much for reading and subscribing to my blog. I will be praying for your sister in law. May God continue to grant peace to your family as we stand in faith on God’s life giving promises.
I am now subscribed.
Hi Jennifer, already a subscriber but want to enter the contest. This book has been on my list of must reads. I could use it now, particularly now that I’ve begun this blogging journey and am at a season in my life where I feel completely stretched. Great idea for a giveaway and I found the numbers/ways of increasing odds fascinating. Hope you are well friend.
Hi Lisha! You will love the book. I found it SO encouraging and filled with the beauty of Christ.
I’m a newish mama of a one year old gal and a ministry wife…I am tired and need some soul rest. Our budget can’t afford books, so I’d love to win this copy!
Thank you, Rachel! Happy Mother’s Day to you!
