I’m linking up today with Lisa-Jo Baker. The prompt is the word song.
I’ve often told my story through song. I’ve been singing as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl I would sing songs from movies or eight track tapes my parents had lying around the house. (I know. I’m dating myself.) When I grew older, I began to sing for Jesus. It changed my life forever.
When I sit all by myself behind the piano I can reconnect my heart with His. It causes me to remember who I am and who He created me to be: a worshipper. I remember being a young teenager and watching an old rerun of a talk show with my mother. Judy Garland was singing. I looked at my mother as tears streamed down my face and said, “I’m going to do that someday.” Little did I know that I would do it, but in a different capacity.
I would stand on church platforms with arms lifted high in surrender to a God Who gave His life for me. I’m spending my days doing different things now. My ministry has shifted, but it all comes back to one thing. I was created to worship. And so were you!
No matter what your gifts or talents are God has a plan to use you. Surrender the sweet song of your life to Him. In the process, He will renew you and make you whole.
Whatever your life’s song is… use it to give Him glory.
Be blessed today!
What is the song of your life?
Oftentimes I think I wasn’t made to worship because my voice is…well, it’s just terrible! But you are right! We are all made to worship!
We were all made to worship, Paula! Music is simply one act of worship. We can worship Him with how we live our lives each day. Thanks so much for reading!
THIS: “When I sit all by myself behind the piano I can reconnect my heart with His.” Yes…I so get this…it’s one of my favorite pastimes. So thrilled to be neighbors today, Jennifer! Enjoy visiting with you : )
All for Him with hugs to you,
Nikki
Thanks, Nikki!
“Whatever your life’s song is… use it to give Him glory.” Yes…I love this reminder and your words today. Thank you for the sweet encouragement! Blessings and happy Friday, friend!
Thanks, Mel. Happy Friday to you!
We are kindred spirits, Jennifer. I love the intimate times of worship with just me, the piano, and an all-worthy Creator. You’re exactly right, we were created to worship!
Thanks for reading, Amanda. Your post is so beautiful!
I love to sing to the Lord and am privileged to sing in the house of prayer. I wish I could play an instrument. Have a lovely weekend!
I enjoyed this Jennifer and dated myself in my post when I mentioned “records”. Just reading and saying aloud the word “worshipper” fills me with His breath – his breath of life. thank God for the ability to worship Him singing our own unique songs. My song has always included movement. I will forever dance to the song of my life.
Beautiful comment on a beautiful post!!
Thanks, Charlie!
I love your reminder and encouragement int your words. Yes, My worship may not be the same as your worship (the best I can sing is still just a joyful noise) but that does not mean I can’t or don’t worship. He created us to worship. Loved ‘meeting’ you last night #FMFFriday and hearing more of your heart today. Have a blessed weekend
Thank you, Amy. Nice meeting you as well:).
“My ministry has shifted, but it all comes back to one thing. I was created to worship. And so were you!” Amen! Great post Jennifer.
Thanks, Eileen!
Great thoughts. You are so right: we need to surrender ourselves to Him for a new song. Thank you for sharing.
I may not know the song for my life yet, but I know that God has plans for me and I am content to live my life and wait on His perfect timing.
I am not a musician or a gifted singer. I do believe that there are songs by others that are written on my heart, similar to how some scriptures are written on my heart. When you asked about the songs of my life, I think of songs like that. For me they are Casting Crowns’ “At Your Feet” and Third Day’s “Offering”.
Such a beautiful image! I am less “worship leader” and more “joyful noise” but I sing loud and give it all to Him anyway 😉 So glad to stop over again from Five Minute Friday!
Nice reminder that we all have different gifts & talents. May we be faithful to use them for His glory! Blessings!
Found you at A Royal Daughter on today’s link up. I thought I would look around a while. I’m about to be 40 too…Blessings to you as you continue to worship our Creator! Blessings, Rachael @ Inking the Heart
