Today, I am participating in Five Minute Friday. It is a writing exercise given though Lisa-Jo Baker. I have a word prompt and five minutes to write free of editing. The prompt is fall.
Go –
Most people are afraid of falling. I guess when we think about falling, we tend to consider what we might fall out of rather than what we could fall into. Falling into something can be hopeful. Falling out is indicative of the end. Or is it?
If we live in fear of taking steps towards our dreams and goals, then we will never know what direction we might fall. And I’ve come to find out that no matter which way you go, there is blessing.
There is as much blessing in the rain as there is in the sun. It’s just different and requires more soul searching. It is difficult and not the way any of us would choose to fall if we actually were able to control life, but it doesn’t mean we can’t learn from those hard days. It doesn’t mean God has given up on us. It usually means that His plans for us are just beginning.
Whatever you are called to do in your life, do it. Don’t focus on the possibility that you might fall out of something, focus on what you might fall into. Live out your purpose giving Christ all the glory and let Him worry about the rest. Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams. Let God use you right where you are. Chances are that you will fall into something you never expected.
Be blessed and fall into something wonderful!
Great insight and wisdom! Great to read you on FMF!
Grace & peace,
Marina
Thank you, Marina:).
Absolutely.
one of the first things i thought of when i first read today’s prompt (although not what i wrote about) was my kids who run and play and jump and climb with abandon – knowing they will probably fall and get scraped up from time to time, but also confident that the fall will be the exception, that they will heal and that it is so worth the risk!
We can learn so much from our kids:).
This is so good. A few years ago, my husband and I were struggling with whether to “go” or “stay”…remain in our current overseas ministry or return to the U.S. And a friend gave us some advice, something we’ve come back to often. “God can use you anywhere if you’re willing. It’s not about right vs. wrong but about your heart in all of it.” And that has proven true in so many ways.
“There is as much blessing in the rain as there is in the sun.” Amazing words. Bless you, sweet friend. Wishing you a beautiful weekend! 🙂
The advice you received from your friend is true wisdom at work in your life. Wonderful:).
This is beautiful. May we always think of what God might be having us fall into.
“There is as much blessing in the rain as there is in the sun. It’s just different and requires more soul searching. ” So true, Jennifer!
New to your beautiful blog and so glad I found it! What a blessing of a post!

Oh yeah! This —-> There is as much blessing in the rain as there is in the sun.
I try hard to live that way every single solitary moment. 🙂
Lovely, Jennifer, just lovely!
So encouraging, Jennifer! Sometimes it is so hard to allow God to use you right where you’re at, because there’s this whole plan I’ve come up with that seems so much better. Silly sin nature….
Such a beautiful perspective! Thank you!
So encouraging and beautiful. Thank you so much!
