We have survived another day. Sometime tomorrow evening we should reach the Disneyland area and then the fun can officially begin! Not that spending long hours in a minivan with my family isn’t my idea of a good time, because clearly it is, but I’m more than ready for a super strength dose of the happiest place on earth. I need to buy myself a tiara and go into princess mode for a couple days. It’s only fair, especially since we had another carsick incident this evening. I will spare you the details…

As the twins are running around spending all the energy they saved up in the car the last few days, I thought I would share something I saw today on the drive…

Driving through Colorado I couldn’t help but stare in awe of the amazing handiwork of our God. He carved the mountains, colored the earth, and commanded the rushing waters to flow inside the canyons. The snow caps the tallest points of the mountains and the sky meets them right where they are. The clouds hover over top almost as if they were placed there to protect the majestic beauty. I just kept looking up not wanting to miss a second of the scenery.

And then I thought, “My eyes should always be focused this direction.” Even when I do not see the beauty in the landscape, even when the clouds symbolize an oncoming storm rather than protection, and even when the rushing water looks dangerous instead of refreshing, my eyes need to be aimed upward toward the heavens.

It is obvious that I cannot behold the beauty Christ created in Colorado every day. But I can behold the beauty of Who Christ is in my own life every day. He is there with me, and He colors my world with many blessings.

When the mountains resemble roadblocks, remember who can move them.

When the clouds seem dark, remember who has the ability to use them as protection.

When the water seems fast and deep, remember who has the ability to walk on it.

Psalm 97:5

The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. (N.K.J.V.)

Keep your eyes up. Christ has beautiful scenery that He created specifically for your life. Enjoy your view today. Happy Sunday!
