Hi, friends! I hope you had a beautiful weekend! Mine was full of excitement as we shot the book trailer for Nothing to Hold but Hope. I am so awkward in front of a video camera! Oh my goodness! It was something completely new for me, because instead of speaking with someone directly or having a formal interview where I’m asked questions to create an open dialog, I had specific wording I needed to communicate. That is until I “lost it” and became a blubbering mess!
It’s emotional subject matter and just in case you don’t know… I do NOT like crying in front of people. I tend to close off my emotion and not allow others to see my tears. Well, you are going to see a few on the book trailer. They were completely unscripted and reminded me that this is just the beginning of discussing this book and what it means to me. The tears reminded me of the pain I lived and why I wrote the book. I wrote it for you! That means every tear is worth it.
After I recovered emotionally, I spent some time having a deep discussion with myself regretting all those pieces of cake I must have eaten over the past year to round my cheeks out the way they look on camera. I guess this means they look the same in real life too. Yikes! In that moment I swore off sweets. The next day I enjoyed Mother’s Day with some cake. Obviously, discipline is NOT my One Word for the year. However, brave is.
Everything God wants to do in my heart and through my life.
I’m working very hard to be brave. I want to show you my heart – every wound, every scar, every tender place. I need you to know that you are not alone, and you too are brave.
Your ability to be bold in your unwavering faith regardless of whatever difficult situation you find yourself in makes you brave.
Your readiness to do exactly what He is calling you to do makes you brave.
Your availability to go when He says, “go” makes you brave.
Your choice to vie for more of who He is, when you can’t remember who you are, makes you brave.
Your willingness to trust Him with everything when you aren’t sure you can handle anything makes you brave.
You might read those descriptions and think, “That isn’t me. I’m not brave.” But I know you are. I know that you have already overcome more than you ever thought possible. I know you have more faith and trust than you might recognize. It might be buried, but it’s there. With Christ, there is nothing you cannot do. All things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)
You. Are. Brave.
God bless you!
PS: I will be announcing the book release any day now. I’m awaiting some last minute publishing details.
